Most 64mm or larger EDF units are made of plastic material.
During flight operations high
temperatures are
created. This causes power to be lost as well as the
possibility that
damage could occur to the motor, ESC or
battery. Many have tried to dissipate the heat
with heat
sinks, but this only offers marginal improvement.
Lander Technology has designed their EDF unit with special
metals to improve on the
problem of heat
dissipation.
- Shroud, Spinner and Tail Pipe are made by a CNC
Manufacturing process with
special Aluminum Alloy Material.
Thus the whole shroud will act as a heat sink, removing
heat
from the motor.
- Motor and Ducted Fan Unit comes assembled. Thermal Grease
Compound is used between
Motor and Shroud to
further help dissipate heat. This is the same compound that is
used on
computer processors and heat sinks.
- This design not only provides a more efficiently operating
motor but will provide peak performance
while
extending the lifespan of the motor.
- For Single EDF Jets with Flying Weight from 2700
grams and Twin EDF Jets with
3000 to 6000 gram
flying weight with a 6S (22.2V) or Twin 3S (11.1V) setup.
